No matter the season, Treetown Tech is dedicated to enriching our employee experience and building meaningful community connections outside our doors. In fact, it’s one of our core company values. Engineering doesn’t happen in isolation—it’s a team effort, and so is community building.
Join us on a quick stroll down memory lane and see how we’ve spent the past year creating team spirit with our local community.
Spring
We love springtime in Ann Arbor—winter loosens its grip, the trees that make treetown so lovely begin to bloom, and the world warms up. As short sleeves start to make a reappearance, what better time to host a blood drive? During our May blood drive, our contributions assisted accident or burn victims, surgery and transplant patients, and those battling cancer and other severe diseases. Our team, which included our favorite cheerleaders (our families!), rolled up their sleeves and donated 29 units of blood to the American Red Cross.
Spring is also a time for thinking about the future, and we like to invest in our future engineers. We worked with our local Girls Group of Ann Arbor to host a Lunch & Learn event for young women to learn more about what it means to be an engineer. The girls worked with our team to see what daily life is like for our electrical, mechanical, software, and industrial design teams and then built custom fidget spinners during lunch that displayed “girls rule!” in LED lights when spun. We look forward to repeating this team-favorite event in future years!
Summer
Summertime = fun time. In addition to organizing a kickball team, we celebrated our second time winning Ann Arbor SPARK’s FastTrack Award. This award honors high-growth companies in the Ann Arbor region that boast a 20+% increase in revenue over the last three years. With only 19 awards earned in 2023, it’s safe to say we’re in pretty great company.
Fall
Fall found our employees in the park helping to cut back invasive buckthorn with the City of Ann Arbor, and showcasing the most delightful “useless machine” at Tech Trek. It was an enjoyable way to engage young kids with engineering and show the local community what Treetown Tech loves to do – tinker! We also showcased our work in a VR exhibit. Kids tried out our demo and really got their (virtual) hands on a unique engineering experience. We love attending Tech Trek and having the chance to engage with school-aged kids about engineering!
Winter
As the year winds down, our company likes to give back by making charitable contributions—maybe you do, too! If so, you know it can be hard to choose from among so many worthy causes. Instead of choosing just one, we like to spread the joy around.
We turn to our employees to determine where our seasonal goodwill should be directed. What causes feel particularly urgent to you? What’s lighting you up this year that deserves some extra resources?
Here are just a few of the causes we supported this season:
In addition to making charitable monetary contributions, our team also held a food drive for Food Gatherers around Thanksgiving.
