At Treetown Tech, we’re not strangers to the integral role a Project Manager (PM) plays. We recognize the value of diverse perspectives and approaches in crafting a cohesive team. Because there isn’t just one way to successfully manage a project, each one of our Project Managers brings their own flair and experience to their project portfolio.
Chris Silkowski: Projects are like chemistry
Chris, our Battery Department Director, began his project management journey as a chemist. He ensures that vital but often overlooked tasks, like planning and documentation, are handled effectively. His approach embodies lifecycle planning, considering all project phases from initiation to closure, and ensuring that all necessary tasks, even administrative ones, are integrated for overall project success. This allows engineers to concentrate on innovative work. Chris also fosters a fun work environment, reminding everyone of “battery supremacy.” He combines technical knowledge, good planning, and infectious energy, effectively bridging the gap between engineering and operations.
Kyle Small: Adaptive management is key
Kyle, our newest PM, started in management in college, where he enjoyed breaking down complex objectives into clear steps. His leadership emphasizes clear communication and the understanding that plans always evolve. He applies rolling wave planning, refining details for upcoming phases as the project progresses and new information becomes available, ensuring adaptability without sacrificing foresight. His experience flipping houses further hones his adaptability. Kyle’s motto is: “Projects rarely go 100% to plan, but teams thrive when there’s trust and a shared understanding of the bigger picture.” Kyle excels at transforming goals into actionable plans and maintaining strong team cohesion even through changes.
James Coller: Steady hand
James, with a doctorate in Naval Architecture, views project management as steering a boat through changing waters: structuring a dynamic process. He excels at proactive risk mitigation, identifying potential issues before they impact the project and implementing strategies to avoid or lessen their effects. He minimizes distractions, allowing engineers to dedicate themselves to technical work. He manages project scope, timelines, and budgets, helping ensure no detail is missed. As our most experienced PM, James provides a steady hand and deep knowledge, guiding every project with assurance.
Luke Paul: Purposeful and Aligned Leader
Luke, an electrical engineer, effectively connects clients and engineering teams. He believes PMs must communicate directly with customers about progress and risks, while also understanding their team’s needs and communication styles. His strength lies in integrated stakeholder management, ensuring that all parties, from clients to the engineering team, are continuously engaged and informed, fostering a shared understanding and commitment to project goals. Coordination is central to his approach, whether with clients, his family, or his hockey league. Luke builds trust, simplifies complex information, and helps keep all stakeholders aligned, ensuring projects are cohesive and collaborative from start to finish.
Treetown’s PMs help bring structure, clarity, and purpose to every project step. According to Managing Partner Casey Alford, “Even a highly functioning team will eventually dissolve if what they’re working on doesn’t collectively matter to the mission.” Our mission at Treetown Tech is to deliver practical and impactful solutions collaboratively.
With the right leadership and structure, we aim to accelerate innovation. If you’re ready to start your next project, contact us, and we’ll connect you with a skilled PM.
